Bethel like pioneering has a sort of we versus them mentality, also the suffering martyr complex they just don't understand the sacrifice were making. Also their is a certain amount of mental illness caused by trying to fit into the Bethel mold.

Why are Bethelites so discusted by their own "real" family members?? {Like Fred Franz e.g}
by Witness 007 insome friends of mine at bethel had slightly disfunctional families at home....nothing huge, just dad was a bit loud....sister had depression at times mum was abit emotional etc etc {all of them faithful witnesses though} ....i was amazed that even at assemblies when they came from interstate the bethelite friends would "shy away" from their real family.
they would always be too busy, or have something to do....one family drove home in tears because their bethel son did not seem to "have time for them...".
e.g fredrick franz 1939 when he was told by his mom his father died franz told her due to press work at bethel he can't make it!!!

Calvary Baptists and Muslims clash
by designs intemecula california.
a decades old muslim community is building a mosque across the street from the calvary baptist center.
pastor bill rench declared the two religions 'mix like oil and water' and does not want to see the new mosque flourish and spread.. how will two religious groups who think each other is headed for hell get along.

The Witnesses are just as extreme and believe Moslems and Baptists should be killed, they just let their God do the dirty work

Ever feel guilty listening to the Rolling Stones as a dub?
by undercover inthis is aimed more for people who grew up when the beatles and stones were first popular, i guess.
now it's completely silly and ridiculous, but it's funny how hearing an old song on the radio can bring back certain memories.... back in the 60s, early 70s i was a big beatles fan but for the most part none of their music was ever labeled 'dangerous' or 'subversive', even as a youth growing up in the jw cult.
even their more psyhcedelic stuff was tamer than other bands of the era.

I remember President Nathan Knorr criticizing the Beatles and referring to them as "the hairy men" at an assembley. I never felt guilty, the Witnesses bored you to sleep Rock music pumped you up.

JW Urban Legands
by ShellyDee inin my congregation we have many urban legands, like the one about the smurf doll jumping out of a girls lap and running out of the kh because it couldn't stand to hear the good news.
we also had one where a sister was out in fs and a dog talked, it told a sister not to knock on this one door, the sister went to the house and knocked anyway, and the doors and windows of the house flew open and dishes flew out, the sister was scared and ran away and the dog yelled at her retreating back "i told you not to got here!

I think I would rather have my dad hang me over a balcony than go out in field service.

Wierdest Yearbook experience EVER 1967 A "talking snake" silenced by an African Witness!!!
by Witness 007 inyearbook 1967 p.105 "{chad -africa}.....a large crowd was follwing a man who had a talking serpent.
the serpent gave greetings and spoke in foriegn tongues...a brother was passing by and attracted by the commotion, he went to the house...as soon as he entered the room the serpent stopped talking.
the man cried out: "a magican has entered the room"...the brother said: "is that a serpent or a demon that is talking to you?...i know that since god created the animals not one sepent has spoken, with the exception of the one in the begining in the garden of eden...seeing that the serpent remained silent the man left the building...later he was anxious to get some literature....".

If 1976 never came I would still be a db.
You know I have thought about that too, if they had not thrown out that stupid 75 Armaggeddon date and then reacted like a bunch of dishonest politicians when the end didn't come in 75 I may have never seen the light, I was in Bethel in 76 watching them pretend like nothing had happened, thankyou Knorr and Franz and the rest of the GB back then for helping to disillusion me so badly that I would quit and at least have the rest of my life to be free.
"The Watchtower fucking sucks."
